As some of you may know, my husband has been serving our country in the military for some time now. Well, it is time for him to hang up his helmet and put away his boots. Yep, that’s right, he is retiring after almost 27 years!!!!

To celebrate I am going to be giving away a complete set of the 2016-2018 Incolors ink pads and a complete set of 2016-2018 Incolor Markers. So what does that mean.. well that 2 people who enter have the chance to win!

So how do you enter…
Simple
All you need to do to enter is send a retirement card to my husband before July 31, 2017. The card can be handmade or store bought. Make sure you include your name and return address on the envelope so I can make sure you are counted (please do not put anything on the card that indicates it is for the giveaway).
This is a surprise and my awesome husband has no idea that I am doing this. 🙂

Please send an email to carolann@sippinandstampin.com and I will reply with his name and a mailing address.

Thank you so much for helping me let him know how much his service to this country is appreciated!

Can You Believe it?!?!?

I am sitting here at 11 at night and thinking about the upcoming week.  Christmas is just a few days away. This year it is going to be a bit tough with the kids all grown now and doing their own things. Hopefully next year all of them will be able to fill this house with the laughter and joy that having family near brings.

Ok enough about all that. Are you still trying to finish up your Christmas cards? I have a pretty simple one for you today.

20161110_160102

My goal is to share as many as I can before I shift my card making to other holidays.

Easy but elegant Holiday Card

Cut crumb cake cardstock in half with the trimmer

score at the half way mark (your folded card should be 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 inches)

Using the trimmer, cut a piece of the white paper to 4 X 5 1/4 inches

crumple up the coffee filter and dab it onto the green ink pad.

Using the dabbing motion, dab the color onto a piece of white paper. This needs to be large enough for your thinlets to fit.

Continue this same process with the brown ink.. making sure to overlap the green ink.

Using the Big Shot and the dies, cut out 3 pine boughs from the paper you just colored.

From the stamp set, Stamp the word Noel in real red onto the lower right-hand corner of the whisper white cardstock you trimmed earlier.

After the ink has had a chance to dry, go over the letters with the wink of Stella.

Glue the pine boughs into the upper left corner. Any that is hanging off of the paper can be trimmed down.

Wrap gold twine around the card in a crisscross pattern.

Adhere the card front to the card base.

How to Heat Emboss

20161205_192426-2

There are three main things you will need to successfully do heat embossing: Heat Tool (129053), pigment ink (Versamark Pad – 102283 or Whisper White Craft Stampin’ Pad – 101731) and embossing powder (Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder – 109130, Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder – 141636, Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder – 109129, Real Red Glitter Stampin’ Emboss Powder – 142635, Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder – 109131 or White Stampin’ Emboss Powder – 109132). One other thing that is a good idea to have and will make your embossed image a lot neater is the Embossing Buddy (103083).

After cutting your cardstock and before stamping, you will want to rub the piece of cardstock you will be embossing with the Embossing Buddy. This has a powder in it and removes the static electricity from your piece of cardstock so you won’t have all those little stray pieces of embossing powder stick to it.

Once you have done that, stamp your image with pigment ink. I find that the easiest and cleanest way to use embossing powder is to store it in a container that is at least a little larger than a card front. You will want to carefully pick up the piece of cardstock you stamped and hold it over the container of embossing powder. I keep a plastic spoon in my container with the embossing powder. Use the spoon to pour embossing powder over the stamped image, then holding the cardstock sideways, tap the edge of it to get the excess embossing powder off. If some places are not covered as well as you would like with the embossing powder, spoon some more over the area that is in need. Tap, again.

Lay the cardstock on your table in a clear spot.If it is a small piece of cardstock, you may want to use your Paper Piercing tool to hold the edge of the cardstock in place, so it doesn’t blow away when you turn the heat tool on.

Hold the Heat Tool straight up and down, about two to three inches from the surface of your table. When you first turn it on, it will take a few seconds for it to heat up, so hold it in place until you see the embossing powder start to melt. Then slowly move over the image to melt the rest of the powder. Once it is all melted, give it a few seconds to cool off before touching it.

Once it has cooled off, you can then finish the rest of your card, whether it is coloring in the image you embossed or sponging over it. If you do sponge over it, make sure you wipe your image with a clean tissue when you are done, to remove the ink from the embossing. This helps it to pop out.

Now you can finish your card however you choose to.
